SF Motors to invest $10.7 million, create 150 jobs to produce electric vehicles in Ann Arbor region

SF Motors, with support from Ann Arbor SPARK, the Michigan Economic Development Corp. (MEDC), and Pittsfield Township, recently chose the Ann Arbor region for its U.S. research and development operations. The company will invest more than $10.7 million in the project, which will create 150 new jobs.

The future of automotive cybersecurity is in Ann Arbor

Cybersecurity and self-driving cars are two of the biggest topics in automotive news at the moment, and recently General Motors was dishing on each. Amid the announcement that GM had acquired Cruise, a startup that provides self-driving kits to existing vehicles, GM was also pitching its white hat hacking program to help them identify security gaps in their software. This is a good program to have, and mirrors what the software industry has been doing for years.

Groundbreaking held at American Center for Mobility at Willow Run

On Nov. 22, Ann Arbor SPARK joined state officials and automotive technology leaders to celebrate the official groundbreaking of the American Center for Mobility (ACM) at Willow Run in Ypsilanti Township. When complete, ACM will serve as a state-of-the-art global center for testing, education, and product development for connected and automated vehicles.
